Here are 5 simple questions to help you get to know people in English. They are only short questions and can be used with anyone you meet. Each question can help you begin or continue a conversation.

  • Where do you live?

  • What do you do?

  • Are you married?

  • Where are you from?

John: Hello, my name is John.

Anne: Hi John, I’m Anne. Where are you from?

John: I’m from Australia. And you?

Anne: I’m from England. What do you do?

John: I’m a teacher. Where do you live?

Anne: I live in Singapore.

John: Wow that’s interesting. I live there too?
