Frequently asked questions
Yes — it's one of the most common reasons people come to me. I use psychology and neuroscience to help you understand why your brain blocks under pressure, and give you real tools to stay calm and think clearly, even in high-stakes meetings.
Yes. Small talk is a real challenge for a lot of my clients, especially those navigating workplace culture in Singapore for the first time. We work on building natural, confident small talk so it stops feeling like a minefield.
Yes. A lot of what I help with isn't just English — it's understanding how things land in Singapore's workplace culture. I draw on 18 years living and working here, plus time in Australia, the UK and the US, to help you read the room, not just the language.
Because I don't just teach English — I help you understand why you struggle with it. Most English classes teach you rules. I teach you how to actually use them — clearly, confidently, in real situations that matter. After 18 years coaching adult professionals in Singapore, I know exactly why smart, capable people freeze in meetings, dread small talk, or fall apart in job interviews. Within a few sessions, most clients understand why their brain blocks them under pressure — and how to fix it for good.My background is a little different from most tutors — I'm a native Australian English speaker, a former private banker, and I've spent years studying psychology and brain science to understand how people actually learn and communicate in high-stress situations. I'm TESOL certified and I've worked with professionals from dozens of countries.Sessions are one-on-one and completely tailored to you. If you're a working adult who wants real, lasting confidence — I'd love to help.
I'm both — a qualified English tutor and communication coach. As a tutor, I help you with grammar, pronunciation, and language accuracy. As a coach, I work on the root causes of speaking anxiety, so you can speak natural, confident business English like a native speaker in real meetings and presentations.
Group classes can only do so much. I offer fully personalised one-on-one coaching, often at a lower rate than somewhere like British Council. I combine English teaching with psychology and neuroscience to get at the actual cause of the anxiety — not just grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.
In a way, yes — just not the traditional kind. Instead of a trial lesson, we start with a free chat, where I get to fully understand your goals and challenges. Your first paid lesson isn't a continuation of that chat, and it isn't another Q&A or discovery session — it's a fully active lesson from the very first minute, already personalised around exactly what you need.
AI is great for writing emails or checking grammar, but it can't sit in a meeting with you, think on its feet when your boss asks a tough question, or read the room during small talk. That's where I come in. Most of my clients already use AI for writing — they come to me to build real, live speaking confidence.
I'm TESOL certified, a native English speaker from Australia who's also lived in the UK and the US, and former Head of English Department at JSU Language School. I was also a private banker before teaching, which gives me a real edge in business and corporate English. I've been living and teaching in Singapore since 2008 — 18 years of experience helping adults communicate with confidence. Beyond standard teaching qualifications, I hold a Public Speaking Skills Professional Certificate from Toastmasters, and have completed advanced study in psychology, brain science, and executive presence — work that directly shapes how I coach clients through speaking anxiety.
Several of my students have seen a real improvement in their speaking band after just 3 sessions. Everyone progresses at their own pace, but once you understand the method, the improvement is real and lasting — I focus on what actually moves the needle, not generic test drills. Especially useful if you need a specific score for a visa, university entry, or PR application.
Yes. I've helped clients prepare for interviews in English, including people who've gone on to land roles at companies like Google. We work on confidence, clarity, and thinking on your feet under pressure.
I work with adults at every level — from people building basic confidence to advanced speakers refining presentation skills and executive presence.
My lessons are priced per hour, with package options available for students who book regularly. Exact pricing depends on your goals and how often you'd like to meet — message me on WhatsApp and I'll recommend the right option and quote for you.
Lessons are available online or in person, depending on what works best for you. In-person sessions are held in a quiet, private setting at my home near Dover, Buona Vista and one-north MRT stations in Singapore, making it easy to fit a lesson around your workday.
The easiest way to start is to message me on WhatsApp — I'll ask about your goals, and we'll figure out together whether online or in-person suits you best.
